Artists and galleries in Aurora’s historic original downtown will host the annual Summer Art Walk Friday, June 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. Meander from gallery to gallery, meet local artists and be inspired at this semi-annual art walk. This self-guided tour will showcase galleries, artist studios and theatres in Aurora’s 16-block arts district.
Visitors will experience eclectic activities including art exhibits, hands on activities, demonstrations and tours of performing arts facilities. Member galleries and artist studios will have refreshments and artists on site.
Start your art walk adventure at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library/Municipal Services Center info stop at 9898 E. Colfax Avenue. At the art walk info stop, pick up a map and grab a free pedi-cab to guide you through the district.

Aurora Tech Academy is committed to impacting the whole child. Students targeted are severely impacted by low- income levels, drug/alcohol abuse, incarcerated parents, gang violence and broken homes. These students traditionally perform lower than the Colorado State Standards concede as being proficient. The pursuit in careers such as engineering and applied sciences can positively extend beyond the classroom setting impacting student achievement and providing exposure to cutting edge technology.

Sculpture on the ̕’Fax Exhibit, through June 15, 2010
Six Colorado artists were selected for the one-year-long exhibit, including Andy Libertone of Denver, David Mazza of Denver, Mark Castator of Boulder, John Ferguson of Denver, Sherrill Stone of Carbondale and Louis Deangelis of Fort Collins.
This exhibit is part of the ongoing collaboration between the City of Aurora Art in Public Places Program and the Urban Renewal Division to utilize public art as a tool to invigorate Aurora’s Original Downtown. Funding for this exhibit is made possible by the Aurora Urban Renewal Division.

Diane Burchett’s professional artistic career began in the fall of 2008 when she moved to the Midwest to focus her attention on oil painting gorgeous flowers full time. She will have a center for kids to oil paint.
Theresa Anderson describes her paintings as operating on the edges of memories-triggered by something read, dreamt, the touch/tactile quality of a material, the long forgotten smell.
Other artists and products featured by Dawn Barrett, Zoe’ Griffith-Jones and Nicole Llewellan.

Theresa Anderson will be leading a performance art piece in random areas of the Arts District. Using self-imposed directions that mimic her method of play as a child, the artist has written this performance art piece, Mrs. Murphy, with an effort towards sublimation, accumulation and fracturing of story line and setting.

About the East End Arts District
In the heart of Original Downtown Aurora, amid historic buildings and multicultural businesses, the East End Arts District is bringing a new and vital element to the revitalization of the city’s historic commercial corridor from Clinton to Geneva streets on East Colfax Avenue. Offering a unique destination where people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy exciting visual and performing arts, ethnic restaurants, retail shops and quality, affordable housing, the District is building on the area’s strengths—diversity, creativity and civic and cultural pride.
